Inspired by the designer Kelly Wearstler,
this rug collection is designed for hospitality settings such as restaurants, hotels and offices. Initial inspiration began when I was researching Kelly’s projects and I came across her designs for the Villon restaurant located in San Francisco, California.
I felt a strong connection to the Cubist style references scattered around the space and particularly the use of color. Blues, greens, and neutrals allow for a relaxing and calming dining experience. I aimed to combine all of these characteristics to achieve exciting rug designs that are one of a kind.
To the left is the digital artwork hand drawn in Photoshop with the intention to be designed for an area rug. The final result is an 8’ x 10’ hand tufted rug with Wool & Silk accents all throughout. The artwork to the right is the CAD File displaying the color placement for production. Once the artwork was put into the program for production, some color positions changed, which is why the CAD file and the artwork are not exactly the same.
